Yigardu's Success Story

March 11, 2026
Yigardu is 16 years old and lives with her family in very modest circumstances in Gondar, Ethiopia. Her parents never attended school themselves, but they have always instilled in their children the value of education. Yigardu has been supported by the Soleil d'Afrique project since she was five years old.
Thanks to the continuous support of our donors – through contributions towards school fees, uniforms, learning materials, and food – Yigardu was able to fully concentrate on her education. With great diligence, discipline, and strong self-motivation, she was among the best students in her class throughout her school years and was ultimately even awarded the title of best student of the year.
Yigardu recently passed the demanding entrance exam for the boarding school at the University of Gondar – an important step in her educational journey. Her dream is to become an astronomer or a doctor and thus contribute to her community.
This success story shows what is possible when commitment, talent and solidarity come together.
We sincerely thank our donors for their trust and support – and congratulate Yigardu on their impressive commitment and great achievements.
